Judokas to Compete in the 2025 World Judo Championships Announced

Ulaanbaatar, May 27, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Seventeen days remain until the commencement of the 2025 World Judo Championships set to take place in Budapest, Hungary, on June 13-20, 2025. 


The World Judo Championships have received entries from more than 499 judokas representing 87 countries. Mongolia will be represented by eighteen judokas under the guidance of Head Coach of the Mongolian National Team Erdenebaatar Uuganbayar and Coaches Bundmaa Munkhbaatar, Boldbaatar Chimed-Yondon, Boldbaatar Ganbat, Nyamlkhagva Purevdorj, and Khishigbayar Buuveibaatar. Athletes who are ranked within the top 100 in the world are eligible to compete in the World Championships. Mongolia will not be represented in the men’s 90 kg and women’s -78 kg weight categories. Although Judoka Khuslen Otgonbayar, who competes in the -78 kg category, is ranked within the top 100, she will not participate due to injury. 


Mongolian judokas will compete in six men’s and six women’s weight categories. The following is the official lineup:


Men

-60 kg: Ariunbold Enkhtaivan ( Silver Medalist of the World Championships), Yolk Kazirbyek,

-66 kg: Baskhuu Yondonperenlei (Two-time Bronze Medallist of the World Championships), Erkhembayar Battogtokh,

-73 kg: Ankhzaya Lavjargal (Bronze Medallist of the World Championships), Uranbayar Odgerel,

-81 kg: Shinebayar Oyunchimeg,

-100 kg: Khuderchuluun Bayartsengel,

+100 kg: Gonchigsuren Batkhuyag.


Women

-48 kg: Narantsetseg Ganbaatar, Anudari Jamsran (Silver Medallist of the World Junior Championships)

-52 kg: Sosorbaram Lkhagvasuren,

-57 kg: Ariunzaya Terbish (Gold Medallist of the World Junior Championships)

-63 kg: Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo (Bronze Medallist of the World Championships), Gankhaich Bold,

-70 kg: Yesui Darkhanbatbayar, Nyam-Erdene Batsuuri,

+78 kg: Adiyasuren Amarsaikhan.


Mixed Teams:

-90 kg: Gan-Erdene Tserenbat 

+78 kg: Nominzul Dambadarjaa


Mongolian judokas have won a total of 28 medals at the World Judo Championships, six of which are gold. The first-ever medal for Mongolia at the Championships was won by Honored Athlete of Mongolia Battulga Dashgombo, who claimed a bronze in 1989. Mongolia’s first World Champion was Tsagaanbaatar Khashbaatar, who earned a gold medal at the 2009 Championships. Since then, Sumiya Dorjsuren, Urantsetseg Munkhbat, Boldbaatar Ganbat, Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir, and Baasankhuu Bavuudorj have also brought glory to Mongolia by winning gold medals at the World Judo Championships.
