On June 24, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held official talks at the State Palace of Mongolia.

During the official talks, the two Heads of State reflected on the achievements of the past 30 years of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Uzbekistan and exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral cooperation with substantive content across all sectors.

President Khurelsukh emphasized Mongolia’s commitment to deepening friendly relations with Central Asian countries, particularly the Republic of Uzbekistan, and noted that the reciprocal State Visits between the two Presidents within the same year demonstrate the mutual desire to strengthen friendship and peace between the peoples of the two nations.

President Mirziyoyev expressed his pleasure at paying his first State Visit to Mongolia and highlighted that bilateral ties have notably expanded in scope and depth since President Khurelsukh’s State Visit to Uzbekistan in 2024. The two sides expressed satisfaction with the effective implementation of the Agreements signed during the official visit to Tashkent.

The two Presidents underscored that the current State Visit marks a significant milestone in elevating Mongolia–Uzbekistan relations to the level of a “Comprehensive Partnership.” This historic development, they noted, would be recorded in the annals of bilateral relations and serve as a firm foundation for the accelerated advancement of cooperation.

President Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthen partnership with Mongolia, recognizing Mongolia as an important regional partner and expressing readiness to further promote peace, friendship, and collaboration.

The two Heads of State welcomed the signing of multiple agreements aimed at expanding the legal framework governing bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in mining, environmental protection, education, science, culture, public health, and plant quarantine.

The two Presidents further highlighted the establishment of the “Mongolia–Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Commission” and the “Joint Committee on Road Transport” as important mechanisms for fostering mutually beneficial economic cooperation. The successful convening of their inaugural meetings in Tashkent in February 2025 was noted with satisfaction.

In terms of connectivity and logistics, the sides commended the opening of the Tashkent–Bishkek–Urumqi–Ulaanbaatar road corridor and the successful implementation of a pilot road convoy as new opportunities for expanded transport cooperation.

The two Presidents also welcomed the signing of the “Intergovernmental Agreement on Air Relations,” which establishes a framework for enhanced air transport cooperation. Under this Agreement, direct scheduled flights on the Ulaanbaatar–Tashkent–Ulaanbaatar route will commence in the second half of 2025, operated by Mongolian Airlines.

In the context of strengthening economic ties, the opening of the “Uzbekistan Trade Center” in Ulaanbaatar City was commended as an initiative that will help increase bilateral trade turnover and diversify traded goods.

The two Presidents acknowledged progress in agricultural cooperation, particularly the implementation of the 2024 agreement to supply 100,000 sheep and goats from Mongolia to Uzbekistan.

The two sides also agreed to promote educational collaboration by encouraging partnerships between universities and academic institutions, exchanging scholarships, developing a skilled workforce, and organizing joint cultural initiatives.

Within the scope of sports cooperation, both countries agreed to hold joint training sessions for national youth boxing and weightlifting teams in Mongolia.

The two Presidents highly valued the successful organization of a number of cultural and economic events in conjunction with the visit, including the “Tourism Forum,” “Mongolia–Uzbekistan Business Forum,” “Uzbek Cultural Performance,” a photo exhibition, and a national cuisine day.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other’s initiatives within regional and international frameworks and agreed to continue active cooperation under multilateral organizations.

President Khurelsukh expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s decision to join the “Multilateral Agreement for the Establishment of an International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries,” an initiative put forth by Mongolia. The two parties agreed to enhance cooperation in addressing the unique challenges of landlocked developing countries through strategic policy coordination and the exchange of best practices.
