500 Mongolian Students to Be Trained as Engineers in the Republic of Korea

Ulaanbaatar, September 22, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Within the framework of the “Mongolia-Korea Critical Minerals and Mining Investment Forum 2025,” a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Chonbuk National University of the Republic of Korea to train 500 Mongolian students as international-level engineers on September 22, 2025.
The forum, jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, the Ministry of Economy and Development, “Erdenes Mongol” LLC, and relevant institutions of the Republic of Korea, took place in Seoul. Within its framework, wide-ranging cooperation was discussed and several memorandums of understanding and agreements were signed between “Erdenes Mongol” and its subsidiaries and leading Korean corporations and institutions, including Samsung, KOMIR, KIGAM, and Chonbuk National University, covering high technology, investment, training, and research.
In particular, agreements were reached to cooperate with KOMIR Corporation in geology, exploration of critical minerals, rare metals processing, mineral resource development, and mine rehabilitation; to train 500 Mongolian students in engineering at Chonbuk National University to prepare international-level professionals; and to work with the KIGAM research institute on critical mineral studies. Additionally, “Erdenes Alt Resource” LLC, a subsidiary of “Erdenes Mongol,” signed a contract with Samsung Group to supply silver concentrate worth USD 17 million. The Development Bank of Mongolia also agreed with Korea Investment & Securities (Asia) to cooperate in securing low-cost financing for projects and programmes to be implemented in Mongolia.
These partnerships will enable Mongolia to process its natural resources more efficiently, train professional engineers in the Republic of Korea, and increase the export of mining products to the international market.
The forum was attended by Uchral Nyam-Osor, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development; Damdinyam Gongor, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources; as well as representatives of “Erdenes Mongol” LLC, the Development Bank of Mongolia, the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other public and private sector organisations.
