Emergency Management Agency Receives New Equipment to Enhance Disaster Response Capacity
Society
Ulaanbaatar, October 9, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On October 9, 2025, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Mongolia was handed over 12 off-road emergency vehicles, two multi-functional Bobcat machines, and two fire-fighting motorcycles to strengthen its disaster response capacity.
According
to NEMA, the organization’s technical capacity and equipment supply have
significantly improved compared to 2021. The provision of technical equipment
has increased from 31.5 percent to 44.5 percent,
rescue tools from 44.8 percent to 63.6percent,
specialized protective gear from 37.4percent to 62.4 percent,
fire-fighting equipment from 38.9 percent to 63.3 percent,
and communication and alert systems from 20.2 percent to 48.8 percent.
Additionally,
under the framework of a financial agreement between the Governments of
Mongolia and the French Republic, four specialized firefighting vehicles were
delivered as part of Phase II of the Project to Supply Fire-Fighting Vehicles to the
Emergency Services. These include two vehicles with 42-meter aerial ladders
and two with 32-meter aerial ladders,
all custom-made based on Mongolia’s climate and geographical conditions at the
request of NEMA.
To further
enhance the agency’s disaster response capabilities, Mongolia is planning to
implement two projects in collaboration with the Asian
Development Bank: Strengthening the Integrated Early Warning System in Mongolia
and Enhancing Disaster Resilience in Mongolia.
Once implemented, these projects aim to expand early warning systems, improve accessibility, develop remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), and introduce modern technological solutions. As a result, the capacity to respond to disasters will be significantly improved, with the average national supply of equipment, specialized protective gear, and rescue tools expected to reach 80 percent.
