Ulaanbaatar, November 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav visited the Bayanzurkh District General Hospital on November 22, 2025, in connection with the rise in influenza and influenza-like illnesses.

Bayanzurkh District has a population exceeding 430,000. Children account for 85 percent of all inpatients. As of November 22, 252 children are hospitalized. The hospital’s emergency department received 417 children on the night of November 21. Although the hospital had been receiving more than 240 child patients a day, the workload doubled overnight, prompting the hospital to increase the number of doctors and staff by two to four times.

PM instructed the relevant authorities to mobilize doctors from hospitals with lighter workloads within 48 hours and, in cooperation with the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS), to deploy additional resident doctors.

Premier further reminded officials to swiftly implement shift adjustments, such as opening a temporary examination room inside the outpatient department dedicated solely to children. He also tasked officials to study and present options for fully including the costs of influenza diagnostic tests and treatment in the health insurance coverage.
