600 girls attends International Girls’ Day Conference

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The General Assembly of the UN declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child from 2012. Currently, the day is celebrated as ‘International Girls’ Day’ or as ‘International Day of the Girl Child’ in 193 countries.

A conference was co-organized by the Family, Youth and Child Development Agency (FYC) and the Leader pupil academy (LPA) under the motto ‘Powerful girls’. Over 600 girls from over 70 schools, 50 mothers and 50 teachers attended the conference. Singer D.Ulambayar (Uka), who has become a role model for girls, actress B.Misheel, National Psychology Center’s psychologist B.Altantsetseg and Model S.Tugs were invited, and shared their childhood memories, dreams and their road to success. The girls discussed on solutions to their issues at the conference.  

According to the 2017 report by the National Statistics Office, there are 587,250 girls between the ages 0-18, precisely 191,702 for ages 0-4, 167,007 for ages 10-14 and 114,593 for ages 15-18.
