Carried freight from air transport decreased by 32.0 percent

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. According to the National Statistics Office, in the first 2 months of 2022, 1.9 thousand tons of freight was carried by air transportation, which showed an increase of 1.4 (3.6 times) thousand tons compared to the same period of the previous year. The total carried domestic freight by air transport reached 2.2 tons and increased by 1.9 (7.4 times) tons compared to the same period of the previous year. The international freight reached 1.9 thousand tons and increased by 1.4 (3.6 times) thousand tons compared to the same period of previous year.
In the first 2 months of 2022, 79.1 thousand passengers (in repeated counting) carried by air transport. The number of carried passengers increased by 64.4 (5.4 times) thousand compared to the same period of previous year. In the reference period, the revenue from air transport (domestic airline) reached MNT 91.3 billion, increased by MNT 75.9 (6.0 percent) billion compared to the same period of previous year.
In February 2022, the number of passengers by air transport
reached 38.1 thousand, decreased by 2.9 (7.1 percent) thousand compared to the
previous month. This decrease was mainly due to a decrease in passengers to
Phuket and Tavan Tolgoi. In February, the revenue reached MNT 46.2 billion,
increased by MNT 1.2 (2.7 percent) billion compared to the previous month.
