Ulaanbaatar, April 17, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Under the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), the Governments of Mongolia, the United States, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are jointly organizing a training program on strengthening the legal system for countering chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological threats in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on April 16-18, 2024.

In the training, the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the European Union (EU) are participating. Representatives from 16 ARF member countries are also attending. This training program is organized annually and rotates among the ASEAN Regional Forum member states. Mongolia was scheduled to host the program in 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed.

The ASEAN Regional Forum plays a vital role in fostering trust, dialogue, and collaboration among participants on various security issues, particularly those related to chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological threats.
