Voluntary assistance campaign launches to help herders

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A press-conference was called March 3 to announce a launch of “Ilgeeltiin Ezed” voluntary assistance campaign.

This was sounded by a chairman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) T.Badral, a director of the Policy Implementation Management Department of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences D.Erdenechimeg, and State Honored Artists T.Bayasgalan and S.Javkhlan. Weather forecast says that snow storms of 24-28 m/sec speed will cover most regions, a thick snowfall is expected in five soums in northern part of Zavkhan aimag. Spring conditions are severe in Uvs, Zavkhan, Arkhangai and Sukhbaatar aimags, said T.Badral and pledged to support by all means the voluntary assistance campaign, initiated by S.Javkhlan and T.Bayasgalan.

In support of this initiative, the Minisry of Education, Culture and Sciences is also implementing “One child-One Blanket” and “Herder Student” campaigns to help the livestock herding families in difficult conditions. Within the scope of “Herder Student” campaign, students who are to help their herder families back in the countryside will be allowed for 7-14 leave from schools, on a favorable condition to later keep up with their studies.

Singers S.Javkhlan and T.Bayasgalan are going on a concert tour through every aimag and Ulaanbaatar, and will donate the income to herdsmen households in difficult conditions as aid.
