Ulaanbaatar Railway to collaborate in intercity public transport
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mayor of Ulaanbaatar Mr E.Bat-Uul received Wednesday a delegation led by the first deputy director of the “Ulaanbaatar Railway” Mongolian-Russian joint venture, Mr Alexander Ushakov, to discuss about cooperation for public transport development in our capital city.
Development roadmap and perspectives of Ulaanbaatar until 2020 and 2030 respectively have been adopted by Parliament, and basic engineering and infrastructural developments were well advanced during the past four years. Nalaikh, Baganuur, Partisan and Jargalant settlements and districts were identified in the development plan of Ulaanbaatar as satellite cities. “It is a matter of concern to connect these cities with Ulaanbaatar by rail. We propose You to cooperate with UB City on renewing the rails, being used for intercity travels”, said Mr E.Bat-Uul.
He also asked the Russian side to collaborate on opening a railway route and establishing a development corridor alongside the route, connecting the city with the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport (NUBIA).
The leaders of Ulaanbaatar Railway has expressed their support for these cooperation proposals, and Mr Bat-Uul and Mr Ushakov agreed to set up a project steering unit on these matters.
