Railway to be constructed from UB to new int’l airport
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A railway called “Aero Express” will be built in a route from Ulaanbaatar central station to the new international airport in Khoshig valley under construction to travel passengers by railbus, a short distance train.
A memorandum on the railway construction was signed Wednesday by E.Bat-Uul, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city; and L.Purevbaatar, head of the Ulaanbaatar Railway Mongolia-Russia joint venture.
The “Aero Express” railway aims to minimize size of freight transported by train through the capital city center, to stop transport of dangerous freight, to expand and renovate the central railway station and to connect Nalaikh district and Partizan settlement with the public transport network of Ulaanbaatar city. In addition, works will be done to combine the city’s public transport with railway transportation for reducing traffic jam, to construct parallel railways between Tolgoit and Amgalan stations and to build bus platforms along railway stations within the city.
In accordance with the memorandum, the construction is expected to start from autumn of 2016, and the first stage will be implemented in 2017. Projects of the great constructions will finish by 2030.
