Mongolia and China Academies of Sciences to develop ecological, energy and research cooperation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On May 2, D.Regdel, Academician and President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) and Bai Chinli, professor and President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) signed a memorandum of cooperation at the Tuushin Hotel in Ulaanbaatar.

In the frames of the memorandum, the two sides will collaborate in studies of biotechnology, coal chemistry and technology, environment and desertification, materials science, nuclear physics, paleobiology and pollution in residential areas.

D.Regdel said that “It is special that the establishment of the memorandum is being coincided with the current period of scientific and technological achievement and of challenging period of the Mongolian economy. Mongolian researchers will enjoy opportunities to cooperate with leading Chinese scientists using scientific and technological accomplishment of China on solving problems of energy and ecology and conduct research on the territory of Mongolia. We have achieved great success in the last 18 years since the establishment of the first memorandum of cooperation between Mongolia and China was established".
 
President of MAS said he believes that the first outcome of the memorandum will occur within 2019, the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. "Over the last decade, the two countries’ scientists have obtained an enormous amount of experience, based on which they will be working more actively in the future" he said. 

He continued to mention that the "The President of the CAS had told us the Chinese side is ready to finance large cooperation projects in Mongolia. High level officials of Mongolia also pledged to give financial and organizational support. An action plan of the ruling political power, the Mongolian People’s Party lays out to increase expenditure for measures in areas of science and technology Mongolia by five times until 2020". "All of those planned works and actions will be effective measures to develop cooperation" added D.Regdel.

The Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences have been cooperating within the framework of the scientific cooperation agreement of 1991 and protocols and memorandums of cooperation established in 1991 and 1999.
