Francysk Skaryna works handed over to National Library

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Mongolia handed over 21 volume works of Belarusian enlightener, humanist, physician, translator and one of the first publishers in Eastern Europe Francysk Skaryna to the National Library of Mongolia.

Director of the National Library B.Ichinkhorloo said “Francysk Skaryna was a scientist, philosopher and beloved literary books, publishings and library of Belarusian people are associated with him. It’s a pleasure to receive the compilation of 1500’s writings from Embassy of Belarus. I hope that it will be a valuable study guide for students, scholars and researchers as the books are published in Russian, English and Belarusian.”

The books are kept in libraries and information centers of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and other countries, presenting the unique culture and history of Belarus, said the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Mongolia Stanislav Chepurnoi.

“In 2017, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian Book Printing the Francysk Skaryna book restoration project  implementers published the 21 volume work. These volumes are not only a manifestation of book printing history, but also the basic source for historical and cultural studies and cultural heritage values of the Belarusian people” he said.

Last year, representing the Belarusian Ministry of Education, Ambassador Stanislav Chepurnoi signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports of Mongolia in education sector. The cooperation between National libraries of the two countries was included in the agreement.
