Up-to-date, portable equipment to be used in viral detection

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Ahead of World Hepatitis Day, Onom Foundation  held press briefing today on its intent of introducing up-to-date equipment for the implementation of the national program ‘Healthy Liver Mongolia’.

The Liver Center at the Foundation is to have 50 pieces of Cepheid GeneXpert system for determination of hepatitis viral load or quantification of viral RNA, DNA. In total, the equipment cost MNT 2.8 billion and it will allow to make quantitative molecular biology analysis in aimag centers as well as create possibility to make diagnostic tests in soums as the system is fully automatic and compact. “The equipment will be brought from USA to Mongolia on August 20 and viral detection and diagnostic tests will be carried out starting Tuv aimag with health insurance,” said D.Naranbaatar, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Onom LLC.

Morever, an open discussion entitled ‘Let’s Combat Against Hepatitis D and B Virus Together’ will be held on July 28 by the Onom Foundation, Mongolian Public Health Professionals’ Association, Mongolian Laboratory Network and Patient Social Representative Council.

Furthermore, within the framework of a program ‘Let’s Detect and Treat Hepatitis’ initiated by the Foundation, Mongolians who are living and working abroad will have opportunity to be involved in early detection tests  and treatment of hepatitis virus. In particular, the Foundation projects to organize an event in Los Angeles city, California, USA on August 19 dedicating to citizens living there.
