Polar Star Order presented to Orkhon soum of Darkhan-Uul aimag

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ President Kh. Battulga issued a decree on July 26 to present the Polar Star Order to Orkhon soum of Darkhan-Uul aimag in recognition of the contribution and efforts of the soum’s citizens to provide the country with healthy and safe foods and develop households farming.
On July 27, the President Kh.Battulga attached the High State Prize – Polar Star Order on the flag of Orkhon soum.
Orkhon soum, established in 1968, has a territory of 44177 hectares and 3269 citizens, 80.9 percent of whom run cropping, honeybee farm and animal husbandry. They harvest about 13-17 thousand tons of crop annually.

In recent years, the soum has been developing combined intensive animal husbandry, cropping and honeybee farms, raising over 40 thousand head of livestock and 1601 honeybee colonies. It supplies 42465 liters of honey to the market. Moreover, the soum was selected the ‘Best Vegetable Farming Soum’ in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015 respectively.
As of 2017, Orkhon soum of Darkhan-Uul aimag provided 19.8 percent of overall vegetable need of the country.
