D.Sarangerel: Two passengers are under serious condition

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ In the evening of August 12, Minister of Health D. Sarangerel reported press on the health condition of passengers of the train No.286, crashed early morning of the day near Airag station of Airag soum, Dornogobi aimag due to torrential rain.
According to the Minister, there were 329 passengers on board and a medical team of 37 doctors from the medical centers of Dornogobi aimag, Dalanjargalan, Airag and the Central Railway Hospital is working on the site. Nine injured people were immediately sent to Airag soum hospital for urgent health service, of which 2 people have symptoms of concussion, and one pregnant woman was released home after examination and medical care as doctors deemed not necessary to hospitalize. Then, 120 passengers were taken to the Gobisumber soum hospital for a thorough medical examination.

One of the two passengers in serious health condition is a 48-year-old woman who had several ribs broken. The diagnosis showed a liquid accumulation in the patient’s liver. If necessary, a team of surgeons of National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Center (NTORC) will carry out an urgent operation. The other one, 54-year-old woman was hit in the head with a heavy object and supposed having a brain injury. Therefore, the patient was sent to the NTORC after stabilizing her physical condition.
"At the moment, there are no records of death. Nine people were injured, three of whom are children, and six are adults. Passengers are advised to consult a doctor for medical help because it is risky to have possible post-traumatic complications," said Minister D. Sarangerel.
