Parliament amends law on the Procedure of the Plenary Session of the State Great Khural

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. At its plenary meeting of Mongolian
Parliament on April 9, a Bill to amend the Law on the Procedure of the Plenary
Session of the State Great Khural of Mongolia was adopted with 75.5 percent
votes.
Today, MP D.Lundeejantsan, who initiated the Bill, briefed the
press, “The legal term of the spring session of Mongolian parliament overlaps with
these days that Mongolian government and State Emergency Commission are taking
measures against the Covid-19 under the WHO recommendations.”
“I have formulated a Bill to amend the Law on the Procedure of the Plenary Session of the State Great Khural and submitted to the Parliament, in view of an urgent need to discuss and approve issues to be necessarily resolved by the Parliament in conjunction with the current emergency. In an urgent manner, the Parliament discussed and approved the amendment. The approval of the amended law ensures organizing a plenary meeting of the parliament and meetings of standing committees urgently with low risk according to recommendations of the World Health Organization,” emphasized the MP.
It also opens a possibility to put issues into virtual discussions
in the state of emergencies such as high alert, war and war-like situations,
and the declaration of the state of preparedness and international
quarantinable diseases, as stated in the Law on Disasters, and cleared up
procedures to be followed during such situations.
