In this edition of the series ‘Mongolian Fine Art Masterpiece’ brought to you by MONTSAME News Agency in cooperation with Mongolian National Art Gallery, we are presenting the artwork, ‘Muruudul’ (Dream) by People’s Artist of Mongolia, State Prize laureate D.Amgalan.

The artwork was painted on a 176x199 cm canvas using oil paint in 1981. The artist illustrated a boy with a red embroidered cotton bag with a five-pointed star, which is a symbol of the Mongolian People's Army, lying on the ground and staring at a star shining in the sky. The orange rays of the setting sun, shining over the sky and the earth, seem to indicate a future to bring wellbeing to the people’s lives.

In addition to highlighting the combination of colors from cold to warm, the artist combined the graphic design techniques that are unique to his work, with the basic painting techniques to make the image of his work even clearer.

Amgalan Dagdan was born in 1933 in a place called, ‘Bor Khundii’ in Khalzan soum of Sukhbaatar aimag. In 1963, he graduated from the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow, Russia. He began his career in 1951 with the painting ‘Khavar Tsag’ (Spring Time). D.Amgalan became a State Prize laureate in 1965, and was awarded the title, People's Artist in 1975.
