Views exchanged on cooperating with EU on increasing foreign trade

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On November 10, Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar received Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia Axelle Nicaise. The Ambassador presented her credentials to the President of Mongolia on November 8.
At the start of the meeting, Speaker G.Zandanshatar congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment, and highlighted that the European Union is a Third Neighbor of Mongolia based on common values, such as respect for democracy, human rights, freedom, and the rule of law.
In turn, Ambassador Axelle Nicaise pledged to put in efforts into further strengthening bilateral partnership, and requested the Speaker to cooperate in the framework of the 2021-2027 mid-term program to be jointly implemented with the Government of Mongolia on trade, economy, human rights, and climate change.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on matters including digital transition, reforms being made in the legal environment for investment, green economic policy, and cooperation for increasing trades and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Noting the works for legal reforms have begun for diversifying the country’s economy, especially for post-pandemic economic recovery, they highlighted the importance of working together to increase export and support production that is suitable for the region’s unique characteristics by creating a stable, favorable environment for businesses.
During this time where countries are united in their commitment against climate change, the EU Ambassador expressed readiness to hold meetings and discussions in order to implement environmentally-friendly projects and programs, and introduce good practices of countries on increasing investment in sectors such as renewable energy.
