UK Foreign Secretary Pays Courtesy Call on President of Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, April 26, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland David Cameron paid a courtesy call on President of Mongolia H.E. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa on April 26, 2024.
President Khurelsukh and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron expressed satisfaction with the successful establishment of foundation for elevating friendly relations between Mongolia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the "Comprehensive Partnership." President Khurelsukh and Foreign Secretary David Cameron discussed the opportunities to expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The two parties exchanged views on cooperation in environmental protection and ensuring ecological balance, combating desertification, and production of organic food under Mongolia’s National Campaigns "One Billion Trees," "Food Supply and Security," and "A Healthy Mongolian."
Emphasizing the importance of enriching Mongolia-UK relations with economic content, increasing trade and investment, and implementing mega projects, which will be a testament to the successful development of bilateral cooperation, the two sides affirmed commitment to supporting promising initiatives in these areas of potential cooperation.
Mr. David Cameron served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2010 to 2015.
Mongolia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland established diplomatic relations 60 years ago, and Mr. David Cameron’s official visit is the first visit by the UK Foreign Secretary to Mongolia in 11 years.
During the visit, Foreign Minister of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh and UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron signed a “Joint Cooperation Roadmap towards a Comprehensive Partnership.” Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry of Mongolia Ganbaatar Jambal and Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom David Cameron signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Rare Metals. Also, Director of the National Geological Survey of Mongolia B. Munkhtur and Director of the British Geological Survey Karen Hanghoj signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Geological Science and Technological Cooperation.
