Mongolian Honored Athlete Ser-Od to Compete in His Third Olympics at Age 43

Ulaanbaatar, May 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The final marathon race for the “Paris-2024” Summer Olympics qualification took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on May 6, 2024.


In this race, Honored Athlete of Mongolia B. Ser-Od finished in 14th place with a time of 2:19.25, securing his right to compete in the “Paris-2024” Summer Olympics. The 43-year-old B. Ser-Od will be the 14th member of the Mongolian team to participate in the “Paris-2024” Olympics and the third Mongolian athlete to compete in the marathon category. In total, three Mongolian marathon runners will compete in the Paris Olympics.


Furthermore, B. Ser-Od and B. Munkhzaya will be running in their third Olympics, while G. Khishigsaihan will be competing in the Olympics for the first time, competing with world champions. In the “Paris-2024” Olympics, 88 female athletes from 42 countries and 70 male athletes from 41 countries earned the right to compete.


In this race, International Master of Sports G. Khishigsaihan finished in fourth place with a time of 2:28:48. He had previously secured his Olympic rights by finishing in eighth place with a time of 2:26:32 in the Tokyo marathon held in March 2024.


The Mongolian Marathon team aims at securing five spots in the “Paris 2024” Olympics. The International Athletics Federation will announce the world quota soon.
