Mongolia Wins 1 Gold and 1 Bronze at Dushanbe Grand Slam

Ulaanbaatar, May, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 2024 Grand Slam Dushanbe was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan,  on May 3-5, 2024.


Over 400 judokas from 65 countries participated in the Grand Slam. On the first day of the tournament, seven Mongolian judokas competed. B. Baasankhuu secured a gold medal, while L. Enkhriilen earned a bronze medal.


Specifically, at the 2024 Judo Grand Slam in Dushanbe, Mongolian judoka B. Baasankhuu triumphed in the women's 48 kg category. She faced and defeated opponents from Malta, China, Spain, Slovenia, and Türkiye. This victory marked her first win in a Grand Slam. B. Baasankhuu has also previously won titles at the Asian Championships and the Mongolian National Championships for adults.


Although L. Enkhriilen defeated strong competitors from Uzbekistan, Germany, and Croatia, she lost to World Champion Jessica Klimkait from Canada. However, by defeating Belgian wrestler Mina Libeer, she secured the bronze medal. It is the fifth medal she has won in the Grand Slam, adding to her previous victory at an Asian championship.


Mongolia ranked seventh in the medal table with 1 gold and 1 bronze medal at the Dushanbe Grand Slam 2024.
