Ulaanbaatar, November 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Since 2017, no large-scale national study on violence has been conducted in Mongolia. A. Adilbish, Secretary and Head of the Secretariat of the National Committee on Gender Equality, stated that international partner organizations, the government, and civil society organizations must collaborate on conducting such research.

Speaking at the discussion titled “Protecting Women Journalists’ Safety Against Gender-Based Violence Through Artificial Intelligence”, held on November 3, 2025, at the Press Institute’s Information Center, she said, “Currently, the existing legal framework does not clearly define the forms of gender-based violence committed through technology. This gap has led to the growing prevalence of such violence and, in some cases, to perpetrators escaping punishment. Over the past 30 years, we have focused on developing gender sensitivity, but now it is time to move toward gender-responsive policies, planning, and concrete action.”

The discussion was organized by the National Committee on Gender Equality and the Press Institute, in cooperation with the National Network for the Protection of Freedom of Expression, under the theme “Protecting Women Journalists’ Safety Against Gender-Based Violence Through Artificial Intelligence”, marking the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
