Stock market sees declines in February

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first two months of this year, 35.6 million shares were traded valued at MNT 51.5 billion at the Mongolian Stock Exchange.

The total turnover of the stocks decreased MNT 60.1 billion or 53.8%, whereas a number of purchased securities increased 22.7 million shares or 2.8 times compared to the same period of previous year.

In February of this year, 1.0 million shares were traded valued at MNT 19.4 billion, so the turnover declined by 12.6 billion Togrog or 39.4% against January 2016, and by MNT 27.0 billion or 58.1% against the previous year.

In this period, the number of the shares purchased decreased by 33.7 million or 97.2% against January, and by 6.2 million or 86.4% against the same period of previous year.

At the secondary stock market, total turnover of stock was MNT 20.0 billion in the first two months of this year, showing a decline of MNT 31.3 billion or 61.0% against the period of previous year. It was MNT 6.0 billion in February of this year, indicating a decrease of 8.0 billion or 57.3% against January, and by MNT 13.6 billion or 69.5% against the period of previous year.

In February of this year, the TOP-20 index was 11,794.2, declining by 363.8 units against January, and by 2,209.3 units against the period of previous year.

The total market capitalization was set at MNT 1.4 trillion in February of 2016, decreasing MNT 16.1 billion or 1.1% against January.
