Ambassador of Mongolia to Cuba Explores Cultural Collaboration with Gran Teatro de La Habana

Ulaanbaatar, April 15, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On April 14, 2025, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Cuba Zoljargal Seseer met with Leonardo Tur Broche, Director General of the “Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso.”
At the meeting, Ambassador Zoljargal proposed organizing a performance by Mongolian ballet artists at the Gran Teatro de La Habana, named after the renowned Cuban ballerina Alicia Alonso, as part of cultural cooperation between the two countries. The two sides discussed the possibilities of organizing joint cultural events commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Cuba.
The Director General of the Gran Teatro de La Habana expressed his gratitude for the Ambassador’s proposal and noted that Honored Artist of Mongolia and acclaimed ballet dancer Altankhuyag Dugaraa had performed at the Gran Teatro de La Habana in 2018. He conveyed interest in organizing joint cultural performances and exchanging experiences.
According to the Embassy of Mongolia in the Republic of Cuba, the “Gran Teatro de La Habana" was named after the renowned Cuban ballet dancer Alicia Alonso in 2015. The Theatre's architectural design was created by a Belgian architect, and construction was completed in 1914 by a New York-based engineering company.
