Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Visits the Chinggis Khaan National Museum

Ulaanbaatar, April 29, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At the Invitation of the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won-shik is paying an official visit to Mongolia on April 26-30, 2025. 


During the official visit, Speaker Woo Won-shik and the South Korean delegation visited the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia on April 29, 2025. The distinguished quests toured the exhibition halls “Ancient Mongol Empires" and “Great Mongol Empire” and observed the Golden Statue of the Great Chinggis Khaan displayed in the “Great Khaan’s Urgoo” [The Royal Chamber], which was established with the purpose of researching, disseminating, glorifying, and immortalizing the glory and the great historical achievements of Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan, as well as strengthening the invaluable heritage of Mongol statehood.


The distinguished guests were welcomed by Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum Chuluun Sampildondov, who introduced the exhibits of the “Ancient Mongol Empires” hall. Director Chuluun mentioned that the two countries have deep-rooted relations dating back two thousand years, and highlighted that over the past 30 years, joint archaeological teams of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea have made significant progress in the study of Hun archaeology. In particular, Academician Chuluun underlined that the joint research team discovered the summer palace of khaans of the Hun Empire in the territory of Bayanjargalan soum, Tuv aimag.


The Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum emphasized that Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea Woo Won-shik and the South Korean delegation were the first foreign distinguished guests to observe the Golden Statue of the Great Chinggis Khaan. From the Mongolian side, Deputy Chairwoman of the Mongolia–Republic of Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group Batchimeg Purev and other officials also attended the tour.
