‘Mongolian Calligrapher 2025’ International Competition Opens for Foreign Participants

/MONTSAME/. In commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished
scholar, enlightener, and leading intellectual of the 20th century, Rinchen
Byamba (1905-1977), the “Khumuun Bichig” newspaper of the MONTSAME National
News Agency is organizing the 29th international competition “Mongolyn Saikhan
Bichigten 2025” (Mongolian Calligrapher 2025) under the theme of the scholar’s biography
and most significant works.
The competition, organized with
support from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism,
and Youth, will receive entries until December 5, 2025.
One of the eight categories in the
competition, “Ethnic Mongols and foreign citizens proficient in Mongol script,”
was created three years ago. Contestants of this category must participate by
handwriting an original composition in vertical Mongolian traditional script on
the topic of “The Great Scholar Rinchen Byamba” neatly and accurately. Brush
and ink can be used. There is no word limit, and contestants have the creative
freedom to write about any aspect of B. Rinchen’s life, scholarly work, literary
pieces, translations, etc.
Foreign contestants must send
their entries by December 5, 2025, to the following address: “Mongolyn Saikhan
Bichigten 2025” /Mongolian Calligrapher 2025/ International Competition, Khumuun
Bichig newspaper, MONTSAME National News Agency, Mongolia.
The final results will be
announced by the end of 2025 and officially published in the Khumuun Bichig newspaper’s
first issue of 2026.
An exhibition of the competition’s
top pieces will be organized in the first half of January 2026, along with an
award ceremony.
