Mongolian Athlete Featured in “Not A Woman’s Job?: Breaking Barriers in Sports” Photo Exhibition

/MONTSAME/. The photo exhibition “Not A Woman’s Job? : Breaking Barriers in Sports”
opened on July 18, 2023 at the United Nations Center in Geneva (UNOG).
The event was organized by the UNOG and the International Olympic Committee
(IOC) to highlight the achievements of women in overcoming gender barriers in the
world of sports.
The exhibition was inaugurated by T.Valovaya, the
Director General of the UNOG, and T. Bach, the President of the IOC. Its main
purpose is to showcase women who have achieved success in sports despite facing
gender-related challenges.
One of the featured athletes in the exhibition is
L.Turuunaa, a member of the Mongolian national para judo team. L.Turuunaa has
been recognized for her exceptional performance in the J1 (blind) category
women weighing 70 kg. She won the silver medal at the World Para Judo
Championships held in Baku in 2022 and the gold medal at the championships in
Astana in 2023.
The exhibition includes a total of 95 photographs that celebrate the accomplishments of women athletes who have shattered barriers and made significant contributions to the world of sports. It serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and empowerment in sports.
