Ulaanbaatar, March 20, 2024. /MONTSAME/. The Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, Keumgang Corporation of the Republic of Korea, and Ulaanbaatar Development Corporation JSC signed a tripartite memorandum during the Ulaanbaatar-International Investment and Partnership Forum in April 2023 in Ulaanbaatar.

Under the Memorandum, Keumgang Corporation pledged to develop the feasibility study for a sewage sludge treatment facility in Ulaanbaatar. Now the feasibility study is ready and it has been handed over to the authorities of Ulaanbaatar city.

For the development of the feasibility study, the United Association of Korean Groups provided financing of KRW90 million and Keumgang Corporation KRW 210 million.

As the feasibility study estimates, by burning the dried sludge produced at the sludge treatment facility, it would be possible to provide energy not only for the treatment facility but also to nearby buildings and high-quality construction material can be produced by mixing the ash generated from the incineration with cement. Specifically, 2,500 tons of sewage will be received and treated per day at the sludge treatment facility, and 200 tons of sludge will be dehydrated, and incinerated, producing ash with a moisture content of 75 percent.
