14 ton garbage cleaned off of River Tuul
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ More than 300 workers of APU Company cleaned 15.6 hectares of area surrounding River Tuul, on May 20. As a result, they collected 14 tons of waste and installed garbage bins adjacent to the river bank.
This was organized in frames of the company’s initiative for environmental protection. The company staff also completed a similar campaign, having collected 23.5 tons of garbage after cleaning 28 hectares of area of the river bank.
The campaign aims to reduce environmental pollution on the banks of River Tuul, the main drinking water source of Ulaanbaatar, and to appeal urban citizens for safeguarding their surrounding ecosystem.
Earlier this month, the foreign nationals living in Ulaanbaatar organized a marathon alongside the river bank to raise awareness of environmental protection.
