Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Construction of the National Burn Center of the National Trauma and Orthopedic Research Centre of Mongolia will resume thanks to the nonrefundable aid USD 8 million by the Government of Kuwait, reports the Ministry of Health. The construction of the treatment center building has been stagnant for 8 years due to financial issues.
In 2009, the State Specialized Inspection Authority concluded that the building, which was built in 1957, was not safe for use. Health Minister A.Tsoftsetseg said ‘It is decided that the assistance of USD 8 million from the Kuwait Fund will be spent for building the Burn Center, which is a very efficient way. We have made an agreement that a total of USD 6.8 million will be spent for the construction works and USD 1.2 million is planned for medical equipment. Which means a total of MNT 3.8 billion is saved from the amount initially agreed in the contract’.
