Railway track repair in final stage

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ A working group led by U. Enkhtuvshin, Deputy Prime Minister, and Major-General T.Badral, Chairman of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is working in Airag soum of Dornogobi aimag to see a process of repair works of the railroad track and embankment, affected by sudden flood disaster on August 12.

As two locomotives, three passenger wagons and one freight wagon of the train No.286 derailed due to the flood, a train movement of the line was closed for uncertain period. However after over 30 hours the rail line was reopened in the evening of August 13 thanks to immediate measures and steady works of rail workers. As of today, over 20 trains have passed through that rail line with low speed. The repair work has taken about MNT150 million and is intended to complete in two days. With Russian support, cranes lifted derailed locomotives to deliver to Airag soum. 

Alongside the train crash, households of Tsagaan Durvulj bagh, Airag soum was affected by flooding due to August 12 heavy rain. The staff of firefighting and rescue departments of the soum and aimag and 33 local citizens safely relocated over 20 households and an automobile. 

MobiCom Corporation rendered assistance worth MNT10 million to flood-affected households. Red Cross Society of Mongolia delivered 22- pairs of rain boot and 10 raincoats to rescue staff working in flooding site, and 20 pieces of kitchen sets, 40 blankets and 40 pairs of children’s boots to flood-affected households.
