Ulaanbaatar, October 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The General Department of Social Insurance, in cooperation with the Embassy of Mongolia in the Republic of Austria, held an online consultation to provide Mongolian citizens residing in Austria with information and guidance on pensions, benefits, and other aspects of social protection.
Experts from the General Department of Social Insurance answered citizens’ questions concerning international agreements, voluntary insurance, and pension and benefit schemes.
The Department continues to implement and promote the country’s social insurance legislation through a series of awareness-raising activities. As part of this effort, it plans to regularly organize online meetings to inform Mongolians living and working abroad about available options and mechanisms to ensure their social protection and resolve related issues.
It
is noteworthy that the Ministers of the two countries signed the “Agreement on Social
Protection between Mongolia and the Republic of Austria” in May
this year. The administrative arrangement for implementing the agreement was
signed on September 16, 2025, by Minister of Family, Labor and Social Protection, Aubakir
Telukhan, and
Federal Minister for Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer
Protection of the Republic of Austria, Korinna Schumann. Implementation of the
agreement enables citizens to avoid double payment of social insurance
contributions in both countries. Periods of contribution made abroad will be
aggregated with those made in Mongolia, thereby entitling individuals to
old-age, disability, and survivor pensions, and strengthening their overall
social protection guarantees.
