UN Day and UN 75th anniversary celebration in Mongolia
视频24th of October is United Nations Day – a celebration
of the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. 2020
marks the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, which occurs amid a global
pandemic, which makes the organization’s founding mission is more crucial than
ever.
On October 22, an official ceremony was held
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to commemorate United Nations Day - 75th
anniversary of the United Nations.
On his congratulatory speech at the event,
Prime Minister of Mongolia Khurelsukh said,
"By becoming a member of the United Nations, Mongolia was able to
strengthen its global reputation and stance, with opportunities to expand
foreign policy, and partner with other countries in a wide range. Today, 11
agencies are resident in Mongolia representing their respective United Nations
organizations, funds and programs. They have become our important development
partners. I would like to thank the UN Country Team once again for their
support and effective cooperation on all aspects, including poverty, human
rights, governance, democracy, children, women, youth, people with disabilities
and the environment.”
During the ceremony, remarks were given by UN
Resident Coordinator Tapan Mishra and Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia I.K.Azizov as a
representative of the Diplomatic Corps in Mongolia. The UN agencies also
introduced their programs and activities being implemented in Mongolia.
Mongolia became a member of the United Nations on October 27,
1961. Various events are planned in the framework of the 60th
anniversary to be marked next year.
