Meeting held with IOM Chief of Mission for Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On December 13, L.Munkhtushig,
Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Mongolia to the People’s Republic of
China, met with Mr. Giuseppe Crocetti, Chief of Mission of China and Mongolia
at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to exchange views on
IOM’s ongoing projects in Mongolia and opportunities for further expansion of
bilateral cooperation.
Mongolia became a member of the IOM in 2008 and has been actively cooperating with the organization. Since 2011, The IOM has helped more than 6,000 Mongolian nationals to return home through its Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programme. It also implements projects and programs to improve internal migration management, prevent human trafficking, and assist victims.
Moreover, the IOM, in collaboration with the Government of
Mongolia, provided a MNT3.3 billion-worth assistance for the repatriation of
913 Mongolian nationals abroad in situations of vulnerability due to the
COVID-19 pandemic.
