Ulaanbaatar, April 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. As part of major road projects to be implemented in the Capital City, the total length of bridges in several locations that would connect with the First Ring Road was increased from 6771 meters to 9878 meters.

One of the projects to expand and develop the highway network of the capital within the framework of the 24 mega projects for the development of Ulaanbaatar city is the Tuul Highway. The 32 km six-line highway will extend from the eastern part of the city, Bayanzurkh Tovchoo at the Ulaanbaatar-Nalaikh highway to the Safety Circle in the western part of the city that diverges to the roads leading to the western aimags.

The highway was initially approved having a span of 32 kilometers and 4 lanes and the budget cost of the highway was MNT 916 billion, according to the general conclusion of the project drawings and budget examination. However, the Cabinet during its regular meeting in January, decided to expand “Tuul Highway” into 6 lanes and construct bridge structures at the sections passing through the central zone of the city. In connection with it, the budget cost of the project was increased to MNT1.965 billion.

Furthermore, the hourly wage of workers and the machinery to be employed at the Project were set according to a directive of the Minister of Road and Transport, which was updated in the technical and economic feasibility study, preliminary plan, and the Project, leading to an increase in the budget. In addition, the project blueprint of the “Tuul Highway” was changed. As reviewed by an expert from the Construction Development Center, the total budget cost of the project increased to MNT 2.384 billion, and MNT 538.6 billion has been approved to be financed from the capital city budget this year.

The Tuul Highway will be of great importance in reducing the load on the city center’s roads, improving traffic efficiency, supporting economic growth, saving citizens’ time, and developing a road network with modern standards.
