Ulaanbaatar, April 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Under the auspices of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the Cell, Tissue, and Organ Transplantation Department of the Second State Hospital of Mongolia successfully conducted a living-donor-liver-transplantation (LDLT) on March 8, 2025.
A team of surgeons of the Second State Central Hospital conducted the liver transplantation under the leadership of Professor Jongman Kim of the “Samsung Medical” Center and with the counseling from doctors of the First State Central Hospital and the National Cancer Center of Mongolia.
The patient who
received this liver transplant has been recovering well, was released from the
hospital, and is now under the doctors’ surveillance.
This is the third time the
laparoscopic method was used to transplant a liver from a living donor to a patient,
which causes less pain, quick recovery, and is less harmful to the donor.
With this surgery being
conducted at this hospital, the overwhelming queue for the procedure in our country
will go down, the flow to foreign countries will be reduced accordingly, and
there will be advantages to receiving this kind of medical help and services domestically.
Furthermore, the Second State Central Hospital is getting ready to conduct kidney transplant surgeries.
