Smartphone application for Mongolians abroad available
Currently, the Ministry of Health and the Communications and Information Technology Authority are jointly operating the 119 helpline for advice and information regarding COVID-19. This time, a smartphone application called ‘Shuurkhai 119’ has been developed for the Mongolian citizens abroad.

Hospital preparations for COVID-19 emergency response drill checked
Starting from today, drill and exercise for correlation and countermeasures during the COVID-19 pandemic will be taking place until May 8. In its framework, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel and Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city S.Amarsaikhan became acquainted with the preparations being done for the drill at the new maternity hospital in Yarmag soon to be put to operation on May 5.

Zayiin Gegeen Monastery
The Zayiin Gegeen Monastery was founded north of Tamir River near Bulgan Mountain by Begtesjav Sain Noyon Khaan, the second son of Tumenkhen Sain Noyon in 1631. With expansions in their activities throughout the years of 1679-1930, it became one of the biggest Khalkh monasteries.

Additional U.S. Government Assistance to Support Good Governance and Civil Society in Mongolia
The U.S. government today, May 1, announced the MNT8.3 billion ($3 million) expansion of the bilateral assistance agreement between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Mongolia’s Ministry of Finance to continue projects and implement new programs that support good governance and strengthen the role of civil society in achieving Mongolia’s development goals.  This brings the total USAID contribution to more than MNT 342 billion ($123 million) since 2004 to support Mongolia’s sovereignty and democracy.

On April 30, the Ulaanbaatar city council approved an election working group’s proposals on electoral constituencies and mandates for the capital city council elections scheduled for October, 2020.

Ulaanbaatar residents vote for priority local development projects for 2021
The current model system to directly ask citizens what improvements should be made in their living environment was initiated by capital city officials in 2013. Last year, Ulaanbaatar city residents voted how to spend the MNT 27 billion budgeted for the capital city by from the total budget of MNT 188 billion for the nationwide Local Development Fund in 2020.
