The president is participating in the 70th session of the UN general assemly

President of Mongolia Mr Elbegdorj has left Ulaanbaatar last week to participate in the United Nations Summit for the Adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the General Debate of the 70th Session of the General Assembly that was held in New York, on 25-27 of September.

This year’s UNGA has gathered about 120 heads of state, and many high-ranking officials. Also the Pope Francis addressed the annual UN General Assembly for the first time.

President Elbegdorj participated in the United Nations Summit for the Adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and delivered his speech on Friday, 25th of September, the first day of the summit.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development consists of 17 goals and 169 targets, an accompanying Declaration, a section on the means, financial and otherwise, which will be required for achievement of the new goals and targets over the next 15 years.

The President of Mongolia has also attended and gave remarks at the interactive dialogue entitled “Building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions” that was held during the summit.

Furthermore, President Elbegdorj wll take part in the High Level Forum of Landlocked Developing Countries and the High Level Summit on UN Peacekeeping operations and the High Level Summit on Gender equality and Women’s empowerment.
