Men’s team takes bronze at Judo World Championships

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The national team of Mongolia took 13th place in the 2015 World Judo Championships held August 24-30 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

On the last day of the competitions, the men’s team of Mongolia captured a bronze medal in the team event, alongside the Georgian team. In the first round, the Mongolian team defeated its rival of Cuba, and then beat the opponent of Georgia at the quarter finals.

In the semi-final round, the men’s was defeated by the Korean opponent that grabbed silver medal later. At the repechage round, Mongolia beat Kazakhstan, reaching the medal. Gold medal went to the national team of Japan.

The women’s team of Mongolia took fifth place, while the Japanese team also won the gold medal by defeating its Polish rival. Bronze medals were shared by German and Russian teams.

The Japan’s team was the leader of the world championships, capturing eight gold, four silver and five bronze medals. Japan was followed by the teams of France and South Korea.
