D.Otgondalai becomes Asian championships in boxing

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Boxers of the national men’s team successfully competed in the 28th Men's Asian Amateur Boxing Championships held from August 26 to September 5 in Bangkok, Thailand.

An international master of sports and Asian Games gold medalist D.Otgondalai captured a gold medal in the men’s -60 contest, beating all his opponents from Indonesia, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. In the first round he had a bye.

Other Mongolians G.Gan-Erdene and B.Tuvshinbat won bronze medals in the 49 kg and 69 kg divisions, respectively.

Apart from the medalists, E.Iderkhuu (56 kg) has been qualified to compete in the 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships to be held October 5-18 in Doha, Qatar. In accordance with the AIBA’s new rule, boxers of first eight places in each weight category at the Asian Championships are able to take part in the World Championships.
