Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Due to 4,093 disasters and accidents occurred in the first eight months of this year, 137 people died, and 143.1 thousand heads of livestock and animals were lost.

There were reported 3,406 construction fires and 145 cases of animal rabies. The damage caused by forest fires amounted to MNT 22.0 billion, by the construction fires--MNT 7.6 billion. Heavy snowfalls and severe storms caused MNT 5.2 billion damage, the rabies--MNT 54.8 million, so the total financial loss caused by disasters and accidents reached 663.6 million Togrog.

In the first eight months of this year, 73 people died from drowning in rivers and lakes, 40 people--in  construction fires, ten--due to artisanal mining and rock falls, five--due to mountain falls, three--in  severe storms, two--in cold rain and rainfall, one--in forest fire.

The occurrence of such disaster and accidents increased by 1,000 against the same period of previous year.
