Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Justice D.Dorligjav Friday submitted to parliament draft amendments to the laws on legal status of customs and taxation bodies and on excise tax.

With 15 clauses in five articles, the draft amendment to the law on legal status of customs and taxation bodies aims to regulate administrative issues which are ruled by the tax and customs laws. It is possible to save administration expenses of customs and tax bodies by co-regulating authorities of the bodies, said the draft initiator.

The draft amendment to the excise tax law has two articles that impose the same size of excise tax upon both domestic and imported alcoholic beverages. The alteration is made in accordance with the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) established between the governments of Mongolia and Japan. In addition, the law aims to protect the national industry of alcoholic beverages by maximizing customs tax on the products in accordance with the general agreement on tariff and trade.
