Mayor S.Batbold meets Japanese delegation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ S.Batbold, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, received a Japanese delegation led by Motoo Hayashi, Chairman of the Japan-Mongolia Parliamentarian Friendship League at the National Diet on September 7.
The sides shared views on the inter-parliamentary relations, the ties between local administrations and the economic cooperation.
The Mayor said he is pleased with the Japanese delegation’s visit, which was coincided with the 45th anniversary of the Mongolia-Japan diplomatic relations. Noting that boosting the relations and cooperation with Japan is a priority of the Mongolian foreign policy, S.Batbold thanked the Japanese side for friendly attitude and regular support to Mongolia. He also expressed the satisfaction with broadening of the bilateral relations and inter-city ties.
“The capital city of Mongolia established the friendly ties for the first time with Miyakonojo in 1999, which among Japanese cities, and today we have been cooperating with many Japanese cities, such as, Tokyo, Sapporo and Asahikawa,” he said and talked about his visit to Tokyo paid last April to exchange opinions about intensifying the ties between the capital cities and fostering the cooperation in all spheres.
“A fundamental for the bilateral relations is the inter-citizen ties. So, I intend to lift up the ties into new level within my tenure. I believe the Japanese side will back this matter,” he said. He then mentioned about the implementation of many projects and programs being implemented within the Japan International Cooperation Agency on empowering local administrative officials, improving the infrastructure, strengthening the urban development and management.
Present at the meeting were D.Munkh-Erdene, Senior Advisor to the Governor of Ulaanbaatar City, B.Byambadorj, Head of the Urban Development Department, G.Ulziibayar, Head of Policy Planning Department, Sh.Sukhbaatar and Head of Foreign Relations Department of Ulaanbaatar City Governor’s Office.
