Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Government organizations of all levels have been instructed to issue a five-day paid leave to parents looking after their ill children under the age five.

Private sector organizations and entities were advised to do the same by the Cabinet, which held an irregular meeting on December 28 to address the increasing spread of influenza and influenza-like illnesses. The Cabinet order will cover the time period between January and March.

In response to the growing demand for a bed in hospitals, the Cabinet instructed Justice Minister Ts.Nyamdorj, Finance Minister Ch.Khurelbaatar, Health Minister D.Sarangerel and Ulaanbaatar Mayor S.Batbold to open a 30-bed unit within the Hospital for State Special Servants to receive ill children.

The Cabinet also resolved to allocate MNT 2.4 billion for the treatment of children with influenza from the government reserve fund. The fund will be spent on purchase of necessary equipment and issuance of incentive for doctors and hospital staff.

The Cabinet also resolved to look into the possibility of moving Khuree Maternity Hospital, and establishing a 300-bed Children’s Hospital in its place.

At the moment, 9.2 percent of people seeking diagnosis have influenza and influenza-like illness on the national level, which is three percent higher than the last week and one percent higher than the average of the last three years. About 55 percent of the patients are children under the age four.
