Save the Children organizes seminar for emergency commission

Bayan-Ulgii /MONTSAME/. In partnership with Bayan-Ulgii aimag’s Governor’s Office and Emergency Management Agency, the Save the Children has been implementing a project on giving educational and psychological assistance to families and children living in rural settlements affected by flood in the aimag since November 2018. In the frameworks of the project, a seminar was organized under the theme, ‘Enhancing disaster readiness’, for the members of the Ulgii soum Emergency Commission, corresponding experts and officials on January 29-30.

During the seminar, they were given information about emergency shelters, the current state of infrastructure, measures to be taken in the future, law on disaster protection, policy reform and enhancing disaster readiness by making amendments to the aimag’s disaster prevention plan. 

The participants were also taught how to report the disaster risk of flood as well as about child protection during disasters and ways to take countermeasures during flood. 

It should also be mentioned that 20 people have been trained to provide psychological first aid for children of families affected by flood, and financial assistance amounting to about MNT 140 million were given for supporting the educational needs of 675 children of 365 families in the project framework thus far.
