Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ More than 30 Mongolians living in the UK, collected GBP 5000 through their participation in a charity marathon against cancer, organized by Cancer Research UK, a cancer research and awareness charity in the United Kingdom.

The Cancer Research UK was set up in 2002 and its work is almost entirely funded by the public. It conducts research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer and provides emotional support for those suffering from the disease. Moreover, previously, the charity provided two Mongolians with breast cancer treatment. Thus, in order to increase Mongolians’ involvement in raising funds for the charity, D.Udnaran, a Mongolian woman living and working in the UK, called for public participation in the marathon through her Facebook account.

Over 30 Mongolians living in London, Manchester, Oxford, Cambridge, Kent and Surrey took on the challenge and trained for three months for the event. They also collaborated with G-studiomn, a photo studio that aims to develop and promote the cooperation between Mongolian and British people.

The marathon involved around 30 thousand people and the Mongolian team raised GBP 5000. A goal was also set by the team to take part in the coming races against cancer.

The Cancer Research UK annually discloses its financial report to the public. Last year, it collected GBP 634 million, of which GBP 49 million was raised through sports events. It is worth noting that 80 percent of the fund is for prevention and treatment of cancer and the remaining 20 percent is for the charity fund.
