Proposal for cooperation with India in astronomy and space science put forward

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) D.Regdel has met the newly-appointed Ambassador of India to Mongolia Mohinder Pratap Singh, talking about scientific cooperation between the two countries.


MAS President D.Regdel expressed his interest in jointly studying historical and cultural ties and spiritual connection between Mongolia and India and expanding the scope of research. In particular, he put forth proposals to train researchers in information technology with the help of advanced technologies, establish a joint laboratory database in Mongolia, strengthen cooperation in astronomy and space science, train scholars in pharmacy and nanotechnology, employ Indian specialists in Mongolia, and to provide long- and short-term English courses of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme for a larger number of MAS scholars in aims of preparing workforce.


Ambassador M.P.Singh in turn noted that attaching significance to workforce empowerment of the sector is one of his objectives and pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation in stages and to focus on increase of the ITEC English course quota for young scholars of MAS.  He also agreed on the importance of employing Indian scholars in Mongolia while expressing readiness to team up in training scholars of the academy through advanced technology.


Since establishing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in 2014, MAS and the Indian National Science Academy have been exchanging researchers.
