MP D.Lundeejantsan meets representatives of OSCE/ODIHR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ MP, Head of the Standing Committee on State Structure D.Lundeejantsan on April 10 met with representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Steven Martin and Ulvi Akhundlu.


In the beginning of the meeting, MP D.Lundeejantsan gave brief information about Mongolia's electoral system, its legal environment and the draft laws on election to be submitted to the Parliament. He then proposed cooperating in improvement of the law on election, while informing that works are being carried out on creating separate laws on the presidential, parliamentary and local elections.


In turn, Mr. Steven Martin emphasized that the meeting serves the purposes of strengthening cooperation between Mongolia and ODIHR and detailing further directions and expressed a readiness to provide monitoring and evaluation on the electoral legislation and make recommendations on elimination of the problems that arise during elections if the corresponding bodies submit the official request for cooperation.
