Rangeland management issues to be discussed at national forum

/MONTSAME/ On April 23, MP, Head of the parliamentary standing committee on
environment, food and agriculture L.Eldev-Ochir and Minister of Food,
Agriculture and Light Industry held a meeting with UN Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) Resident Representative in Mongolia Vinod Kumar Ajuha and Head
of Cooperation and General Consul of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Mongolia Gabriella
Spirli. They exchanged views on preparation for the national forum
themed ‘Establishment of legal framework for rangeland management in Mongolia’
to be held in the State Palace on May 7.
At the
forum, over 800 participants including sector experts, representatives of
international and non-governmental organizations, and local citizens will talk
over the bill on rangeland management, current state of the use of rangelands,
and pressing issues together with the ways to overcome them. Moreover, local
authorities and citizens will establish agreements and share good practices for
proper rangeland use.
Minister
Ch.Ulaan informed that the bill on rangeland management will be discussed at
the cabinet’s meeting on May 1. For his part, MP L.Eldev-Ochir said that the
forum serves the purpose to promote the significance of the bill on rangeland
management, address pressing issues, and introduce international and local good
practices.
